  • Habitat

    Apparently this species now becoming common on newly cleared roadsides and fazendas established on poor soils, such as the coastal restingas S of Olivença. A local informant whose father has a farm near Porto Segura (and another near Una) related how abundant this formerly barely present/noticed species was now, even compared to only 4 years previous. Especially common on grazed/burnt lands and extensively cut new plantations of cocoa (where shade plants are sparse or young.
