Grassy bank with a few sapling Cecropia
treelets. In full sun. Abundant with
coarse grasses. 5-10° sloping bank,
part of the vegetation cut very low.
Colony extensive, with tufts of 2-6
active fronds every 10-30 cm; to 1.10 m
high. Rhizome running close to soil
surface, with some deeper rhizomes (not
excavated). Lamina slighty glossy, deep
chestnut under the indumentum; lower
rachis likewise, grading into pale
pinkish-brown apically. Axes very
brittle.
