Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of the offset because description provided in time (hours) rather than distance; instead georeferenced to the approximate location of the village of Paumari, along Rio Javari (synonymous with Rio Yavari) in Amazonas. Referred to Selva Aventura website for location information for Paumari (http://www.selvaventura.org/#!canopy-paumari-en/c1950). According to the site, the Paumari community is located in the hilly area adjacent to the Palmari Nature Reserve. Using the reference material and Google Maps - Terrain and Satellite View, located the approximate location of the Paumari village, on the hilly area adjacent to Palmari Reserve. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the approximate location of the village. Because the Paumari village does not have defined spatial boundaries, used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure from the selected coordinates to the nearest named place along Rio Javari within Brazil, Heliconia Natural Reserve (did not measure to the Palmari Reserve because the Paumari village may be partially/entirely contained by the Reserve), then halved this distance to approximate the linear extent of the village of Paumari. Input coordinates, linear extent (4256.83 m.), and measurement error (.01 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius. Site is located approximately 15 km. upriver from the geographic center of the shore of the city of Atalaia do Norte (along the Rio Javari).
