Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Referred to Geonames.org (http://www.geonames.org/maps/google_-3.168_-60.08.html) and TravelingLuck.com (http://travelingluck.com/South+America/Brazil/Amazonas/_3754148_Paran%C3%A1+do+Janauari.html) websites for locality information for Paraná Janauari (synonymous with Igarapé Janauari) in Mun. Iranduba, Amazonas. Used the reference materials and Google Maps - Earth View to locate Paraná Janauari, which leads from Rio Negro opposite of the city of Manaus to Lago Janauari. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the mouth of the stream (confluence of Paraná Janauari and Rio Negro) and the confluence of Paraná Janauari and Lago Janauari then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along Paraná Janauari nearest to the midpoint of this line; used Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic midpoint of the stream, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Input coordinates, linear extent (1960.0 m), and measurement error (5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
