  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Referred to "Traveling Luck" website (http://travelingluck.com/South%20America/Brazil/Amazonas/_3745072_Rio%20Branquinho.html) for location information for Rio Branquinho (synonymous with Rio Brancinho). Georeferenced to the geographic center of the river. Using Google Maps, located Rio Branquinho in Amazonas, BR. Used distance measurement tool to measure a straight line starting at the beginning of Rio Branquinho (where it branches off of Rio Cuieiras) to the end of this river (using visual evidence to approximate end of river through the dense forest cover), then halved this extent to approximate the location of the midpoint of Rio Branquinho. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint, on adjacent land to the west along the river. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the river - 18338.6 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
