Habitat
Disturbed moist cloud forest. With Brunellia, Weinmannia, Miconia, Magnolia, Gomodesia, Eugenia, Myrsine, Ocotea, Calyptranthes, Persea, Sagraea, Leandra, Meriania, Lyonia, Psychotria, Ilex, Coccoloba, Calycogonium, Henriettea, Clidemia. Common. Over limestone.

Description
Shrub to 2.5 m tall; fruit gray-blue (purple when imature); flowers white, anthers white, arranged actinomorphically. Leaves with primary, secondary, tertiary veins impressed, fourth-order veins slightly impressed. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
