    Moist pine forest and moist broad-leaf forest along river, with Miconia stenobotrys, M. racemosa, M. santanana, M. prasina, M. rubiginosa, M. serrulata, Clidemia hirta, C. umbellata, Mecranium acuminatum, Sagraea domingensis, Lyonia truncata var. montechristina, Odontosoria aculeata, Dicranopteris, Lycopodium cernuum, Baccharis myrsinites, Ilex, Schefflera morototoni, Securidaca virgata, Hypericum hypericoides, Sauvagesia erecta, Clusia, Hyptis, Mikania, Mucuna urens, Tibouchina longifolia, Palicourea, Triumfetta semitriloba, Symplocos berteroi, Casearia arborea, Zornia reticulata, Polygala paniculata, P. grandiflora. Locally common.

    Shrub to 2 m tall; flowers (petals and stamens) white; berries red (immature) to pale blue (at maturity). Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
