Habitat
Disturbed forest of Pinus occidentalis. With: Lyonia, Myrica, Pteridium, Mecranium, Miconia, Tetrazygia, Eupatorium, Psidium, Miconia species incl.: M. laevigata, M. tetrandra, M. mirabilis, M. skeanii. Common.

Description
Shrub to 4 m tall; infl. axes red; bracts red; hypanthia red; petals white; young fruits red; turning purple, and then (when mature) pale blue; leaves falcate; appears to be distinct from M. stenobotrys. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
