    25 ft. tree 2 in. dia. with stiff, over lapping, scaly bark; all parts hairy esp. on young shoots; hairs brown; fls. in terminal spike-like panicles; hypanthium mealy green; petals white reflexed; filaments purple, anthers white. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
