  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the junction of Rio Negro and Rio Cuieiras. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the junction of Rio Negro and Rio Cuieiras in Amazonas, Brazil. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the approximate geographic center of the junction, on adjacent land between the meeting of the rivers. Used measurement tool (Google Maps) to measure linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the furthest extent of the intersection. Input coordinates, linear extent (1125.75 m.), and measurement error (.01 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Junction, Intersection, Crossing). Note: Coordinates are placed on land when viewed on Google Maps - Satellite View, but in water when viewed on Google Maps - Map View.
