    Large tufted grass, 35 cm high, culms maroon. Inflorescence wooly, terminal, spikelets covered in silver hairs, 10 mm long, spike 3-4 cm long. Leaves thin, fine erect, ligule swollen at base of node, hairy. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
