Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate location of the geographic center of Esperança in município Benjamin Constant, Amazonas. Referred to map provided by "Spider Web Net: Phil's Maps" for approximate location information for Esperança (http://www.spiderwebnet.net/images/Maps/Amazon%20Map%20DMA%201%20to%201%20000%20000%20%20W%2058deg%20to%20W%2070%20deg%20%20Manaus%20to%20Tabatinga%20Brazil.jpg). Using the reference map and Google Maps - Satellite View, located Esperança, which is situated along the Rio Solimões, very nearby the confluence of Rio Solimões and Rio Javari (mouth of Rio Javari). Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the city of Esperança. Because Esperança does not have defined spatial boundaries, used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure from the selected coordinates to the nearest named place, the city of Benjamin Constant, then halved this distance to approximate the linear extent of Esperança. Input coordinates, linear extent (5924.75 m.) and measurement error (.01 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
