  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the midpoint of Rio Javari between the cities of Benjamin Constant and Atalaia do Norte in Amazonas, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Javari (synonymous with Rio Yavari). Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line beginning at the approximate geographic center of the shore of the city of Benjamin Constant (along Rio Javari) to the approximate geographic center of the shore of the city of Atalaia do Norte (along Rio Javari), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the river between the cities. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the approximate midpoint of the river, on the adjacent shore. Input coordinates, linear extent (12548.6 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
