Stems cespitose , growing in large clumps, 2 m tall, covered with living leaves almost to the base. Leaves ca 10; sheath 40 cm long, very fibrous; petiole 30 cm long; rachis 1.3 m long; pinnae 52 per side, regularly arranged and spreanding in 1.
