Stem solitary, but others with 3 stems, 16m tall x 9cm diameter at base, with cone of reddish roots to 40cm long. Leaves 8; sheath 63cm long, orange-red, with mass of black fibers at apex (these are the abaxial covering of the youngest folded p.
