Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the land adjacent to the confluence of Rio Trombetas and Rio Mapuera in Porteira, Oriximná. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the junction of Rio Trombetas and Rio Mapuera. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the land adjacent to the approximate geographic center of the confluence, nearby road BR-163. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the confluence of the rivers. Input coordinates, linear extent (1416.42 m.), and measurement error (.01 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Mouth or headwaters of a river, confluence of waterways, trailhead). This location is the site of waterfall Cachoeira Porteira.
