Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 10 km "above," or upstream from, the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Rio Curicuriari, a tributary of Rio Negro, in Mun. São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Amazonas. Used the Google Maps - Earth View to locate the mouth of Rio Curicuriari (confluence of Rio Curicuriari and Rio Negro). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure approximately 10 km (10.06 km) upstream (toward the headwaters of Rio Curicuriari); used the Google - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the offset along the river, on the adjacent northern shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent of the starting location of the offset, of the mouth of Rio Curicuriari, by measuring from the approximate geographic center of the mouth to the farthest extent of the confluence of Rio Curicuriari and Rio Negro. Input coordinates, linear extent (1.170 km), measurement error (0.025 km), and distance precision (10 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
