    Dominican Republic. Pedernales. Sierra de Bahoruco National Park (ca. 9.4 km N of sign indicating park boundary), accessed north of Cabo Rojo on old Alcoa road to Aceitillar; S of Aceitillar and park guardhouse (Caseta #4); 23.3 km N of junction with Route 44.

  • Habitat

    Roadside (through pine forest). With Clidemia angustilamina, Rhytidophyllum, Senecio picardae, Polygala crucianelloides, Chamaesyce, Garrya fadyenii, Coreopsis buchii, Bletia, Lyonia truncata. Common.

  • Description

    Shrub to 1.5 m tall; petals white, anthers yellow; flowers with style on one side and stamens on the other; in some flowers 1 stamen is on the side with the style; filaments greenish white; fruits immature, greenish, with red hypanthium. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
