  • Habitat

    Pine forest above, most forest along steep rocky ravines, fairly dense secondary thicket downstream from plant. With Tetrazygia longicaulis, Miconia stenobotrys, Clidemia angustilamina, Corchorus hirsutus, Cissampelos pareira, Ilex, Trema lamarckiana, Pellaea, Cheilanthes, Tabebuia berteroi, Chrysophyllum, Lantana camara, Piper aduncum, Comocladia, Croton, Sida, Phyllanthus, Ficus, Clusia, Cupania, Rivina, Pilea, Kalanchoe spp., and several Myrtaceae shrubs. Locally common.

    Shrub to 2 m tall; berries dark purple; petals white, anthers yellow. Young fruits with red hypanthium. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
