Rocky sandstone west slope in open pinyon-juniper woodland.

Description
Flowers white with a yellow eye. Inflorescence notably compact, forming a cylinder covered all around with slowers at anthesis, not opening up much at maturity. Styles slightly < nutlet. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
