Habitat
Disturbed moist montane forest at peak (and ridge) of mountain, lower elevations with very patchy and disturbed moist forest. 150-775 m elev. Common.

Description
Small tree to 6 m tall; flowers white (petals reddish at base); anthers yellow-red. Leaves reddish beneath on young shoots. Branches rigidly ascending; new growth bright red. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
