Habitat
With M. septentrionalis. Moist montane forest dominated by Coccoloba, Podocarpus, Garrya, Miconia, Baccharis, Palicouria, Psychotria, Bumelia, Ocotea, Persea, Vaccinium, Myrsine, Symplocos, Cordia, Sapium, Ternstroemia, Cestrum, Didymopanax, Weinmannia, Brunellia, Ilex. Locally common.

Description
Shrub to small tree at the peak, to 6 m tall; sterile now; leaves with 3 veins impressed, golden to white below. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
