Habitat
Shrub forest dominated by Vaccinium corymbosum, Rhododendron periclymenoides, Rhododendron viscosum, Clethra alnifolia and Lyonia ligustrina. This shrub forest transitions from a freshwater marsh to a beech-maple mesic forest dominated by Quercus velutina, Fagus grandifolia, Betula lenta, Acer rubrum.

Shrub 3 m tall, 2 stems, the largest 3.5 cm diam; bark dark brown, smooth. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
