Habitat
Shrub forest dominated by Vaccinium corymbosum, Rhododendron periclymenoides, Rhododendron viscosum, Clethra alnifolia and Lyonia ligustrina. This shrub forest transitions from a freshwater marsh to a beech-maple mesic forest dominated by Quercus velutina, Fagus grandifolia, Betula lenta, Acer rubrum.

Description
Tree 1.5 m tall, the stem 1.5 cm diam; bark brown, very finely narrow fissured, not scaly; all fruit at about the same stage of development. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
