Habitat
Shrub forest dominated by Vaccinium corymbosum, Rhododendron periclymenoides, Rhododendron viscosum, Clethra alnifolia and Lyonia ligustrina. This shrub forest transitions from a freshwater marsh to a beech-maple mesic forest dominated by Quercus velutina, Fagus grandifolia, Betula lenta, Acer rubrum.

Description
Tree 11 m tall, the trunk 22 cm diam; bark grey, smooth, but very shallowly fissured; fruit just turning from green to red, the top of ovary glabrous. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
