Dry-mesic prairie (not dense and turfy), with Elymus
virqinicus, E. canadensis, E. canadensis X E.
virqinicus, Prunus pumila, Rosa blanda, Solidaqo
canadensis, S. qiqantea, Artemisia ludoviciana, and
Aster encoicTes. Deep loose loamy sand on top of
riverbank; full sun and light shade in vicinity of a
small copse of Acer nequndo and Quercus macrocarpa
trees. Very N end of Hay Lane Rd"! at Wisconsin River
in AVOCA PRAIRIE STATE NATURAL AREA (T.8N., R.2E., Sec.
5 SW 1/4).
