Formerly cultivated ground, fallow for at least 20 years with a mix of native and exotic tree species.

Description
Tree ca 20 m tall, the trunk 1.2 m diam; bark very thick, furrowed, the ridges blocky, flat, brown; staminate catkins reddish. Not evident whether this tree planted or spontaneous. 2014: probably spontaneous. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
