United States of America. New York. Bronx Co. ca 30 m east of the Bronx River and 2-10 m N of the eastern end of the Snuff Mill Bridge and road.

Fallow ground, consisting of mostly spontaneous native and naturalized plants.

Description
Tree; trunk leaning, ca 8 m tall, ca 20 cm diam; bark dark grey, shallow furrowed or merely cracked and spreading, the furrows rough and dark around the edges, orangish near the cambium, the ridges flast, smooth, lighter, the younger bark striped like Acer pennsylvanica, but dark and light grey rather than dark and light green; flowers white, visited by bees. Nearby tree of same species and ca the same age with NYBG Accession number: "993/98A, SD, J. Tansey". Phenology of specimen: Flower.
