Habitat
Growing in fine sand on floodplain of river; this area formerly covered with Polygonum cuspidatum.

Description
Shrub from enlarged base, stems several from just above the ground, the largest ca 3 cm diam; older bark splitting , furrowed, the younger bark thin, brown, peeling; corollas pink, the lobe margins white; anthers yellow. The densest colony of this species is in the low woods just N of the Pfizer Lab and W of the western-most Twin Lake; scattered indivuduals observed throughout the forest.
