    Large shrub, the many stems ascending to ca 8 m tall, the largest ca 20 cm diam; bark reddish/brown, shredding in small, papery sheets; abundant pollen produced now. The ground all around and under this tree is littered with countless leafy twigs, apparently clipped off by an animal. NYBG accession tags not found on this plant. Culitvated.
