Jamaica. Portland. Blue Mountains. Mt. Horeb, along "Fairy Glade Trail" from jct. with "Woodcutters Gap Trail" to Harwar Gap, 130-1450 m. alt. This plant at peak of Mt. Horeb.

Habitat
Moist montane/cloud forest. M. virgatum at lower elev. - to ca. 1350 m. Very common. Clay soil with rock outcrops.

Description
Shrub or small tree to ca. 3 m tall; fl. buds reddish. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
