Wet, mossy, montane cloud forest. With Podocarpus, Cyrilla, Miconia spp., Mecranium, Cephaelis, Psychotria spp., Meriania, Palicourea, Hedyosmum, Blakea, Clusia, Alsophila, Gleichenia, and Chusquea. Common.

Description
Shrub ca. 5 m tall. Bark gray-brown. Some leaves orange-red. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
