Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the center of quadrant "D" of the CEPEC/CEPLAC research compound, also known as the "Reserva Botanica", near the city of Itabuna, in Mun. Ilhéus, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Satellite View located the CEPLAC/CEPEC complex. Verified the location of the complex using Wikimapia, Google Maps - Street View, and personal correspondence with Dr. William Wayt Thomas (NYBG). Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of quadrant "D" of the CEPEC/CEPLAC research compound [Dr. William Wayt Thomas (NYBG) assisted with this interpretation of the locality description]. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to approximate the linear extent by measuring from the chosen coordinates to the farthest extent of quadrant "D", bounded clearly by access roads on all sides. Input coordinates, linear extent (588.663 m), and measurement error (0.001) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Bounded Area).
