Belize. Cayo. Ca. 18 km WSW of San Ignacio, NW side of Macal River, Chaa Creek Nature Reserve.

Habitat
steep slope with outcropping limestone; semideciduous moist forest; prominent species at this site: Amyris sp, Plumeria sp, Comocladia sp, Bursera simaruba, Manilkara sp, Clusia sp, Metopium browneii, Celtis sp, Anthurium schlechtendalianum, Selaginella sp, Adiantum tenerum, Anemia adiantifolia, Gausia maya, Vitex gaumeri, Pedilanthus tithymiloides.

Description
Tree ca 5 m tall; stems to ca 12 cm diam; roots very extensive, horizontal just under the surface of the soil, etending more than 20 m from tree, often producing erect stems; leaves very thick coriaceous, stiff; flowers all fallen, the petals yellow, not opening, odor like ripe bananas.
