Abundant at the edge of river in dark places. Growing
between rocks and associated with several ferns; in some
places, almost the dominant vegetation. Plants 20-30 cm
tall, of light, bright green color. Most plants with
inflorescencés on erect culms and on separate, prostrate,
ascendant shoots partially covered by fallen leaves. Spike
lets PurPle colored; male spike lets soon deciduous.
