    Exposed windswept hilltop covered by Artemisia tridentata scrub, surrounded by Pinus jeffryi forest on leeward slopes. With Purshia tridentata, Grayia spinosa, Symphoricarpos rotundifolius, Ceanothus velutinus, Tetradymia canescens, Achnatherum hymenoides, Lupinus argenteus, Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus. Common, becoming dominant on N-facing slope of hilltop. Decomposed pumice ashfall soil with occasional quartz lattite outcrops.

    Large shrubs to 1.75m high, 3-4m across. Flowers white. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower, Fruit.
