Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unsure of the precise distance along the road to georeference to; instead, georeferenced to the geographic center of the road between the cities of Itabuna and Ilhéus, in the state of Bahia, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, identified the road which most clearly connects the cities of Itabuna and Ilhéus as "415". Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line beginning at the start of this road in Ilhéus (where it intersects "Ave. Osvaldo Cruz"), to the point along "415" closest to the approximate geographic center of the city of Itabuna (At the intersection of "Av. Antônio Carlos Magalhães" and "Rua Mensaheiro"), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the geographic midpoint of the road. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of a point just alongside the midpoint of the road (randomly chose northern side). Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to either of the chosen endpoints of the road near the geographic centers of the connected cities, 13485.25 m), and measurement error (0.01 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
