Cabrllia on road to Porto Seguro; restinga forest on white
sand. Elev. 25m. Graceful bamboo forming a very large clump,
1.8m diam., of ca. 190 closely placed culms, these up to
13m tall, 2-2.5cm diam., erect but thinner at the tips and
hanging, mostly self-supporting, striated dark-light green
when young, short-pubescent with a ring of white hairs below
the node. Culm leaves caducous: sheath lanate; blade re-
flexed. Foliage delicate, the leaves green with purplish
petiole and sheath. 130 branches at one mea&ured node. One
culm found with a few flowering branches.
