Merostachys
Municipio Prado: ca. 10 km south of Prado. Low, littoral
forest with this ‘bamboo abundant. Elev. 50m. Clumps of
about 50-75 closely-placed culms, these, about 2 cm in diarn.
scabrous, with thick vails and filled with pith, erect but
becoming thin and vining above vith pendulous tips. New
culm leaves caducous, the sheath becoming stramineous and
falling early from the culm; blade reflexed, separating at
maturity from the sheath. New culms abundant at this time
but not yet branching.
