In understory of upland forest. "Baixo" -- low terraces possibly flooded occasionally by overflowing streams, with semi-closed canopy including Hura, Moraceae, trunked palms, Sterculia, Eschweilera; understory with Marantaceae and Araceae; and surrounding slopes (with Averrhoidium, Couroupita, Moraceae, Annonaceae, Pouteria). Rare.
