Dune forest with elements of Maritime Forest and Southeastern Swamp Forest; dominants include Pinus taeda, Quercus falcata, Quercus virginiana, Persea palustris, Liquidambar styraciflua, Ilex opaca and Nyssa sylvatica.

Description
Young tree 2 m tall with spicy lauraceous odor, the stem ca 2 cm diam; bark brown, thin with prominent lenticels; leaves clustered at the ends of long, arching, yellow-green twigs; leaf blades chartaceous to subcoriaceous, the abaxials lighter.
