  • Description

    Large tree 30 m tall, the trunk 62.5 cm diam; bark thick, brownish-grey, the ridges somewhat flat, narrow, the furrows narrow, even when moderately young (bark appearing "ropey"); bud scales yellow, lustrous, glutinous; anthers purple, giving the whole catkin a purple cast. See Atha & Adamsons 6162 for specimen of same individual with leaves.
