BAMBUSA
BAHIA, BRAZIL
Mun. de Una, road Sao Jose-Una, 36 km NW of Una. Eley. 200
m. At the edge of recently cleared and cut forest. Growing
in clumps, the plant erect for just a short distance, then
decumbent or bending and leaning. Flowering profusely and
also with many new shoots, up to 12 m high. Culms green, UP
to 3.5 cm diam. with very thick walls and a small lumen,
almost solid in lower part and in the upper thin branches.
Culm leaves very hard, light beige color, falling very
easily, with large, erect blade. Foliage leaves with white,
woolly oral setae. Flowers with 6 purple stamens and stigmas
also purple.
