Habitat

Non-flooded, lowland forest.

Description

Tree, 18 m x 22 cm. Trunk cylindric, slightly irregular at base. Bark scalloped, the outer bark thin (<1 mm thick), the inner bark bark thicker, red. Petals pure white, the androecial hood yellow. Phenology of specimen: flower.

Notes (shown on label)

Voucher for DNA collection from leaves. Note: larger trees seen with well-developed buttresses. At least five other trees of this species seen in flower at this time. Tree not in Lecythidaceae Plot but near SW corner of plot near camp.
