Shrubby climber with wiry stems. Petioles red tinged. Leaves dark rather bright green above, rugose, pale beneath with prominent veins. Inflorescence with two very large lobed pink bracts with darker veins. Female flowers with perianth green with shining hairs. Male flowers with cream anthers, staminodal disc shining cream. Fruit yellow green shiny.
