Brazil. Maranhão. Loreto Mun. "Ilha de Balsas" region, between the Rios Balsas and Parnaíba. About 40 km. south of Lorêto. At place called "Picada", about 100 m. S of the creek, "Riacho da Picada".

Habitat
This habitat: semi-open somewhat disturbed vegetation at transition of narrow low-tree gallery forest along brook ravine with "chapada". At base of gentle slope of side of low plateau. [See label for further habitat description.].

Shrub 1 1/2 m. tall. Sepals light yellowish-green. Petals orange-red. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
