Frondibus linearibus usque ad lineari-spatulatis,
frequenter multo distortis et irregulariter incisis
lobatisve, 15-25 cm. (usque ad 40 cm.) altis, 1.5-4 cm.
latis, basi longe et gradatim ad discum basale ultimo
gracillima attenuatis; zoosporangiis numerosis, elongato-
polygoniis usque ad regular!ter ellipsoideis, 38-44u longis,
26-34p. latis; gametangiis pilisque ignotis.

Growing on rocks in tide pools in the middle of the
littoral belt. Mouth of Coos Bay, Oregon, and Bolinas Bay,
California.
