Weedy, open 2nd growth forest around old Japanese buildings. Include Macaranga, Ficus, Osmoxylon, and Heterospatha elata palms in overstory, Microsorium scolopendria and Merremia peltata vines in understory.

Description
Ginger to 2 m tall. Common in understory. Flowers white to pale purple. Fruits bright red when ripe.
