  • Habitat

    Somewhat open shrubland, xeric. Plumeria, Tamonea, Eugenia, Lippia, Schaeferia, Erithalis, Exostema, Croton, Bursera, Melocactus, Antirhea. Thin soil over limestone.

  • Description

    Pumpkin shaped plants ca. 0.4 m tall without cephalium and slightly less wide, roots long and slender; cephalium columnar and covered with red spines and filled with soft white hairs, flowers and fruit pink.
