  • Description

    Pileus 6.5-9 cm broad, plano-convex, dry, deep brownish red on disc, dirty yellowish at margin, overlain with agglutinated and appressed dark brown squamules, staining blue when bruised. Flesh pale lemon yellow, slowly blue when exposed, 2 cm thick. Tubes adnexed, bright yellow, bluing, with pores olive yellow (3C8), bruising blue, 2-3/mm. Stipe 9.5 cm long, 1.5-3 cm broad, slightly flattened, equal to subclavate with a pinched base, bright lemon yellow to chrome yellow and fibrillose streaked above marginate limb, staining blue, with reddish to reddish brown agglutinated and appressed squamules below marginate limb, overlaying a pale yellowish ground, staining blue, with interior pale lemon yellow, staining blue, solid, with yellow basal mycelium.
